Conflicting views at Eccles mosque
by Tom Rodgers

As part of a event to encourage understanding between communities, Eccles mosque opened its doors on Friday.

The first interviewee Mohin Amari is typical of the British muslim – his parents are a Syrian father and Liverpudlian mother: born in the UK, Mohin was brought up with Islam and in his eyes it is often misrepresented by the mainstream media.

Not all visitors were happy to discuss Islam as a religion of peace, as you can see in our second interviewee. Prospective Parliamentary candidate for Salford and Eccles, Richard Carvath, also attended but refused to take off his shoes and so was not allowed into the mosque.

People will judge a faith by the way it’s followers behave, in this respect I’m afraid most religions leave much to be desired and no single example I can think of has the right to judge another, however extremist of all religions have much to be ashamed of, the Taliban, Christian fundamentalists or whoever have all got blood on their hands. Let’s not condemn everyday people going about their daily lives as extremists.

All of us are humans, just some of us choose to waste what short lifes we have on following stupid religions. Get on with life and accept changes through evolution, this world may not be here for much longer so enjoy. :-@

I said I was going to make a full public response following this event at Eccles Mosque. I have now done so: a briefing paper which I’ve just written (‘islam: The Truth’) is now published and freely available on my website.

I am not in agreement or disagreement of all the comments made here. However most of the comment here seems to be relating to Richard Carvath. Since I dont know him its only fair that I try to find out more. I am trying to understand how can one person be “Pro Life” and call for “death penalty”? Does that means life of someone other then your own family is no value? By the way there is very cute picture of Richard and baby on his site. By calling for “death penalty” he is giving a green light that one day this cute baby perhaps in future be given “death penalty” for whatever reason the state feels like. Because of men are so selfish, they make laws that only benefits themselves now nor do they thnik or see the true impact of their laws. They think they are doing good. In fact there are nothing but deluded. If only we were to truly follow the 10 commandments we’d not be in the mess we find ourselves. I challenge Richard to follow the 10 commandments since he says he is a Christian who submit to follow them anyway. Unless off course he say it only to deceive the people. As for someone who believe in God I pray to God to guide Richard and show him true reason for God’s creation. I am surprised that he says he was there for community sprit and only be waiting in the passage and not take part. I very much doubt if Richard’s spoken words are from his hart. Life is too short to be hating anyone. Peace

Rocky Carvath obviously turned up at the mosque looking to be deliberately confrontational and to attract attention to himself, what an idiot. So he refuses to take his shoes off and thinks he is making some great political statement, did you think somebody would nick your nice shiny brogues or did your socks whiff a bit?.Odour Eaters for The English!.

Carvath claims to know a lot about Islam but he couldn’t even say the differences between a church and a mosque. In his latest blog he also claims Allah is Satan. Allah is God, the very same one Carvath claims to follow. Christians, Jews and Muslims all worship the same God. The difference being we follow different prophets. This was a publicity stunt by Carvath obviously, he knew he would not be allowed into the mosque. Any true Christian understands and respects other peoples beliefs and clearly as you see by this video Carvath doesn’t. He has little mans syndrome and it’s about time he grew up. I want to be there in May when he looses his deposit, I want to see his disappointment when he realises he has very few followers if any [with a brain]. On the other hand this Mohin lad showed us what tolerance and respect is. Well done to the People who made this event happen and I will be there when you have your next one. A Christian

Pure gold! Well done Tom Rodgers! This interview with Richard Carvath and Mohin Amari has got to be a contender for Salford news video of the year! We’d never get material like this from the local paper or its website.

I bet, perhaps another Richard crusade? What will it be this time I wonder, another triumph of closing down massage parlours or perhaps stopping sex education in schools or better still, getting homosexuals to accept that they have been taught to be gay by other homosexuals. Very good Richard, very good.

Anglo-Saxon? You must have the elixir of life! I’ve not seen any Anglo-Saxons around these parts for over a 1,000 years! Richard has just posted on his blog that he’s going to make a full response to this event in the next few days. I don’t doubt that he’ll have something interesting to say when he gets round to it!

Richard Carvath – what a pratt! I’m glad I saw this interview just so that I don’t make the mistake of voting for such a narrow minded, bigoted individual whose attitudes belong with Richard the Lionheart and the crusades. How anyone like him could possibly regard themselves as fit to represent the people of Salford as MP leaves me flabbergasted! I would rather vote for that corrupt woman we have now! But don’t worry Richard the Faintheart, the BNP and Hazel(gimme more)Blears are all on a hiding to nothing. What a sad day it is when a bunch like that can even consider themselves honourable enough to represent this great City. Well just remember Lionheart lost that fight and this Richard will lose his too – and hopefully his deposit as well!
